Our Vision Statement

St. Thomas Episcopal Church is a faith community that expresses our love and relationship with Jesus Christ within our church and in the world. We gather to grow more deeply in our faith, to share God’s word in Holy Scripture, to love more deeply in our families and communities, and to make a difference in our world to the glory of God.

To that end, St. Thomas offers a variety of ministries and encourages all members to participate in any way they can. We strive to be good stewards of all the gifts we are given. We form ourselves in the love of Jesus Christ by providing educational opportunities for all ages, with special attention to our youth and young adults. We are actively building outreach ministries to serve those in need. We welcome everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, economic background or sexual orientation. We are committed to transforming and growing our community to be a balanced and holy place.

We will live into this vision and recognize that we do all things with God’s help and to God’s glory.

Our Core Values:

God loves us unconditionally. In return, our call is to love God and others by intentionally showing compassion, empathy, and support. By demonstrating deep care for others, we will go beyond feelings and move into actions that have the capacity to build lasting relationships with each other and the community.

We recognize the inherent value of acknowledging and embracing yourself, others, and life’s circumstances without judgement. We foster inclusivity, recognize everyone’s unique identities, respect different perspectives, and strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and seen.

Our faith acknowledges and trusts in God and gives us confidence and hope. Our faith is actionable and observable through our behavior, the way we treat others, and the acts of service we perform. We believe in the transformative power of faith and use our influence to spread the word of God.

St. Thomas shares a strong sense of community inside and outside the walls of the church. Unified by shared principles and a strong belief system, we promote a sense of belonging, mutual respect, and collaboration. Whether we are partnering with in-house committees or constituents in the neighborhood, we do so with integrity, equity, authenticity, and open communication.

We believe that giving and practicing generosity are central to contributing to the well-being of others. When our actions are sync with our Christian beliefs, words, and behaviors, and we demonstrate gratitude and appreciation, we are modeling Christ-like behaviors.
